Waiting for Normal Book Cover

This cover was created as an exercise for a preexisting book, Waiting for Normal by Leslie Connor. The abstract illustrations reflect the experiences of the main character, who lived in a bright yellow trailer under an overpass, the place where most her her life revolves round. I explored different options in the ideation phase, using other events from the book as inspiration, but went with a more simplistic cover. This piece mixed collage and illustration, as well as digital and custom hand drawn typefaces.
